The Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and the corresponding Department of Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) has a list of the requirements that companies must meet in order to do business with the U.S. government.
One requirement is that hardware, like fasteners, that is classified as being made from “specialty metal” must be made with material melted in the U.S.A.
